And then make sure you’ve got everything together. Here’s what you’ll need – some basic tools and your stair flooring. Let’s get started!
First you’ll need to measure the step. Measure from the face of the riser to the outer point of the bull nose. Using this measurement cut some of the packing strips down to size then glue and screw them to the existing risers. Repeat this process for all your steps.
It’s easier to start at the top and work down your staircase, so let’s start with the top stair.
Simply cut two risers to size and apply some adhesive. Then we attach them firmly to the packing strips. To apply your first stair apply some adhesive to the existing tread. Then press the new one firmly in place, ensuring that the lip and recess fit together snugly.
That’s the first couple done. You can see the difference already. The rest is simple!
Repeat the process adding risers and treads until you have completed your staircase.
